Our Kalispell dental team has extensive experience providing comprehensive dental care, including dental cleanings, dental implants, and Invisalign, to patients throughout the Flathead Valley.

Meet Dr. Dan McAllister
Dr. McAllister was born and raised in Great Falls. He completed high school at Great Falls High, where he was an avid musician and wrestler for the Bison. He attended Montana State University, graduated with honors, and received Montana State’s “Award of Excellence” for outstanding scholastic performance and community involvement. After graduating, he received his dental training at the University of Minnesota School of Dentistry.
Following dental school, Dr. McAllister served as a Captain in the United States Army. He was one of two Army dentists selected to attend the Exodontia surgical residency, where he received advanced training in surgical procedures. Furthermore, he completed a year-long combat tour and was a top graduate from the Army’s Air Assault School and Expert Field Medical Competition.
Dr. McAllister was selected to attend training in Oral Maxillofacial Surgery, but declined to return home to Montana and be with family and friends. Dr. McAllister is incredibly passionate about helping patients who need dental implants and completed his training at the premier center for implantologists, the widely recognized Misch International Implant Institute.
When he’s not practicing dentistry in Kalispell, Dr. McAllister enjoys exploring the local Montana trails with his dogs and is a dedicated cyclist.
Meet Dr. Sarah Fontana
Dr. Sarah Fontana grew up in Minnesota, where she earned her degree in Biology at the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, MN. During this time, she traveled both nationally and internationally on numerous medical mission trips, which ultimately led her toward pursuing dentistry. She went on to earn her Doctorate of Dental Surgery degree at the University of Minnesota School of Dentistry, graduating with honors in restorative dentistry. After receiving her degree, she worked in various private practices in Missouri while her husband, Dr. McAllister, was stationed at Fort Leonard Wood.
Dr. Fontana has completed a wide range of continuing education courses and specializes in aesthetic dentistry and prosthodontic services such as crowns and veneers. She enjoys working with patients of all ages throughout the Kalispell area and strives to create a relaxing and fun environment, knowing that going to the dentist can be difficult for many patients.
Outside the office, Dr. Fontana enjoys spending time outdoors, enjoying all that Montana has to offer. She’s a huge dog lover, and if you catch her running on the local Kalispell trails, you’ll probably see her with her two Boxers!
Meet Dr. Mark Colonna
Dr. Mark P. Colonna graduated from the Loyola University School of Dentistry in 1983. After receiving his degree, he stayed until 1992, holding the positions of Assistant Clinical Professor of Radiology and Assistant Clinical Professor of Operative Dentistry.
In 1991, he moved to Whitefish, Montana, and founded the Montana Center for Laser Dentistry. He began offering his patients the latest in minimally invasive dental care technology. A pioneer in the use of laser dentistry, Dr. Colonna is the first dentist in the world to use laser technology to perform many procedures without the use of drills or the need for local anesthesia in most cases. In addition, Dr. Colonna lectures and instructs on laser dentistry across the country and the world. His articles on the topic appear in various well-known dental journals.
Dr. Colonna was awarded the “Inventor of the Year” for the invention of the PIPS™ technology, which uses the laser photons of energy to clean and completely remove biofilm from root canal systems, by the World Congress of Minimally Invasive Dentistry (WCMID). He shares this award with his research partners from Arizona, with whom he also shares ownership in several patents related to laser dentistry. In addition, from 2006 to 2010, Dr. Colonna served on the State of Montana’s Board of Dentistry Examiners. Dr. Colonna is an avid golfer, hiker, and bowler, and loves doing everything in the company of his beautiful bride, Susan, and pup Bella.

Without question the absolute best dental office in the Flathead Valley! Dr. Dan is an amazingly talented dentist. My broken tooth repair was flawless but most important my experience was virtually painless. That is saying a lot when you consider I am a big dental coward!
